Frédéric ESPIG, son of the company’s founder, Spigol® was the 1st culinary aid to be created, based on spices and saffron. A common thread for this son of a saffron farmer. But above all, it was a ground-breaking innovation: a tasty, easy-to-use blend in an eye-catching metal box. The secret of good cooking!
Spigol® has developed over generations. 125 years later, it remains the cornerstone of our brand. To perpetuate the tradition, we’ve deliberately kept its retro feel.
Spigol® is a blend of spices (sweet chilli, turmeric, other spices) and 3% saffron. This southern-flavoured blend adds fragrance and flavour to all your dishes, while giving them a beautiful saffron hue. Spigol® is emblematic of paella, but it can also be used in a wide variety of other dishes: fish soups,
bouillabaisse, rouille sauce, simmered dishes such as pot-au-feu, stews, risottos, potatoes, semolina…
The only limit to its use in cooking is your imagination… Spigol® is recognised by professionals, amateur chefs and Michelin-starred chefs alike. Some have been using it since they were very young and can’t cook without it!
